It is our pleasant day to visit Gopeng Tamil School. In fact this is our 5th Tamil school where we do our Star Gazing Event for School kids, Parents and Teachers. Everyone expecting our present and they excited once Veerayen setup his telescope for their view. But we’re upset and worry after seeing the unpredicted weather. The cloud was so thick and raining non-stop from evening worry us the Star Gazing event will halt and disappoint kids too. Whatever the weather condition we continued with our plan to presentation and briefing session.
We start the event on the night at 9.15 pm with brief introduction by Program Coordinator (Mr. Veelasamy ). I started with introduction on agenda of the night. Veerayen with his knowledge sharing session on Solar System and Constellation pull full attention of students. After his sharing session, I continued with introduction to telescope. Students showed very interest and continue respond along the presentation until 11 pm. It was power packed sharing session. Some students amazed us with non-stop questions. We actually took longer presentation session since the clouds give no room for sky watching activity. It quite disappoint for all kids and parents who eager to see night sky through Telescope.
We waiting with hope for clear sky and while waiting we had chit-chat with parents and teachers on our activity. The god really blessed us, eventually we getting very clear sky ~12 midnight. Starting with waning gibbous moon, student stay awake late until 2 am to view Jupiter, Pleiades and Orion Constellation. Good weather and clear sky allow us to snap picture of Orion Nebula for participants.
Also we did not miss to show the Venus, which looked in gibbous phase, on early 6.30 am. We end our sky watch activity with the Sun and two sunspots. With fulfillment achieve on objective of the Star Gazing night we end the event with group photo session.
